Those of you who own or owned an Oppo handset know that the company indeed produces amazing phones but doesn’t perform so well when it comes to software upgrades. Especially Oppo Find7 owners will be able to confirm this. From the very first preview until the stable release of ColorOS 2.0 based on KitKat, it took a massive 12 months. Now Oppo apparently are ready for the next step and announced ColorOS V2.1 which will transform this custom ROM into a Lollipop based ROM. This time round they will once again incorporate some UI changes, which makes ColorOS look a tad more attractive since it wasn’t known as the most beautiful OS previously. Those changes mainly apply to the icons and menu design of ColorOS. Some parts of the system now look similar to MIUI. This change probably was necessary to fit the new material design that Google incorporated with the switch to Lollipop. Now the question of course is: How long will it take Oppo this time to release a stable version of their Lollipop based ColorOS? Another year?
