We are sure that a lot of you are eagerly waiting for the first devices based on Mediatek’s MT6795 64-bit monster to arrive, and we are too. Now it seems like we will get a large variety of devices to choose from, so it will be quite the opposite of the MT6595 which wasn’t quite the success we expected it to be, probably due to the fact that the new MT6752 is almost as powerful as the MT6595.
Whatever, besides HTC and Elephone who already announced devices making use of Mediatek’s Snapdragon 810 counterpart, Oppo will launch their very own device with this SoC as well. It will be the Oppo R7, the successor of the R5, which for a short time was the worlds thinnest phone. Not much is known yet except the SoC that will be used and that Oppo will once again create a very thin device. There also is a leaked image which is supposed to show the handset.
We are a bit skeptical about the Oppo R7 though, as the Oppo R5 had quite some issues with battery life and performance due to its thin body. Now if Oppo squeeze in a high-end chipset, battery life is for sure not going to improve, and we rather see more issues like overheating. But on the other hand, Oppo probably know what they are doing, so lets wait and see what they have in the pipe.
